The Museum of the Archdiocese of Warsaw is located in the 16th-century palace next to St. John’s Cathedral in the Old Town. Founded in 1938, in the 1980s, it was a place where opposition activity against the communist system in Poland was supported. During martial law, groups of artists, actors and musicians were active here.
In addition to precious works of art such as original engravings by Albrecht Duerer from the 15th century and Jacek Malczewski’s painting Christ and the Samaritan, you will see collections of stylish furniture, clocks and portraits from the 18th and 19th centuries, as well as memorabilia related to John Paul II.
After visiting, take a break with Chopin’s music played live – recitals take place here every day.
